Who shot Adam Chandler?

Leave it to All My Children to start a summer mystery. Adam Chandler - portrayed by David Canary since 1984 - has always been a cold-hearted bastard, but you know he's been very, very bad when the suspects number a baker's dozen.

So, let's check out the suspects:

#1 and #2 - Zach and Kendal Hart Slater - Adam gave the go-ahead for the trial use of a new heart valve to be marketed by Chandler Enterprises. The valve is implanted in little Ian Slater and now he is on death's door.

#3 - David Hayward - Adam pulled a fast one and has denied David custody or visitation with Little Adam.

#4 - Krystal Carey Hayward - Adam told a secret about Krystal he swore he would never tell.

#5 - J.R. Chandler - Adam disinherited J. R. - not to mention Adam is now a possible suspect in the murder of J.R.'s mother, Dixie.

#6 - Liza Colby - has returned to Pine Valley and is looking for revenge against Adam.

Also in the house at the time of the murder, but who I think are improbable suspects:

#7 - Tad Martin - Suspects Adam may have murdered Dixie, only Tad went to the Chandler Mansion to stop J.R. from killing Adam.

#8 - Ryan Lavery - Went to Chandler Mansion to prevent Kendall from killing Adam

#9 - Annie Lavery - She was there to kidnap Emma, but she did have a gun.

#10 - Erica Kane - Although she has been helping Adam of late, she is furious he put little Ian's life in jeopardy. Was that Erica's high heeled shoes in the mansion or Liza's?

#11 - Adian Devaine - Adian was only at the mansion trying to find Annie, but he was in the house.

#12 - Colby Chandler - She was so upset over Daddy's death, I just don't think it's possible she is the murderer.

#13 - Scott Chandler - He also doesn't seem like a likely suspect, but he did turn up at the house.

At this point I have no idea who shot Adam - it's going to be a loooooong summer ...

I may have to temporarily boycott All My Children! Okay, I know I probably can't get rid of my Pine Valley addiction that easily, but I am furious with Kendall! I was so glad when she woke up from her 3 month coma, but now I wish she'd go back into one.

(Ryan - easy on the eyes, but no Zach!)

She's kissing Ryan - Ryan! Of all people. How can she do this to Zach?? I would do everything possible to stay in Zach's good graces - Ryan is such a butt!

I guess the bitch really is back!

The Bitch is Back

For the past few months now, my favorite daytime fictional character - Kendall Hart Slater - has been in a coma. Of course, I'm talking about Alicia Minshew's character in the soap opera ALL MY CHILDREN. Now, before you get your panties in a wad, ALL MY CHILDREN is the only soap opera I watch, but it is a daily habit I've had since I was 16 years old.

In the storyline, Kendall was a victim of the tornadoes that tore through the fictional town of Pine Valley, leaving her in a coma. In actuality, Minshew was only taking a few months off to make plans for her real-life wedding. Okay, you caught me - I'm ashamed to admit I have done my fair share of Googling as far as ALL MY CHILDREN is concerned.

Kendall is the type of character people love to hate! She has such an over the top kind of personality, you continue to watch her just to see what she's going to do next.

Alicia Minshew is not the first Kendall Hart - oh, no, no, no ... this role was originated by Sarah Michelle Gellar (before Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a twinkle in Joss Whedon's eye) in 1993 - Minshew has only been Kendall since 2002, but she has made the role her own.

Of course, one of the greatest appeals the past few years has been Kendall's love affair with Zach Slater played by Thorsten Kaye - oh, be still my heart!! The pairing of these two strong personalities has kept ALL MY CHILDREN fresh.

So there you have it - my one daily "guilty" pleasure! It has been a part of my life for over 30 years ... here's to many more years!

Farewell Myrtle

Okay, so I know it's the holiday season and I know emotions can run hot and cold, but I've spent the last hour crying over the death of a fictional television character!

Myrtle Fargate was the shoulder everyone from the fictional town of Pine Valley cried on. Eileen Herlie joined the cast of All My Children in 1976 and she was a regular until her last episode on June 23, 2008. Herlie died on October 8, 2008.

On today's episode of All My Children, they had a grand farewell to Myrtle. Zach Slater names a room at the casino in honor, the "Fargate Carnival Room". Zach - my favorite character - is played by Thorsten Kaye. Hubba hubba!!

This is the only soap opera I watch, and I've been watching since 1976. I have to have my daily dose of Pine Valley.

"The angels are on your side."

These are the last words we hear Myrtle say, recorded from her last show, and repeated at the end of today's episode.
