..... I know I shouldn't like this show because Nancy is such a lousy mom, but I just can't help it. I missed watching it Monday night when it premiered, so we finally got to watch it last night - WOW!!

Weeds Season 6 Episode 1: "A “Thwack”

When we last left Nancy (Mary-Louise Parker) and the gang, Nancy and Shane (Alexander Gould) were standing by the pool watching a dead Pilar (Kate del Castillo floating in the water. It seems that our mild-manner Shane has learned some new tricks from all the violence in his life. He hit Pilar in the head with a croquet mallet (think "The Shining" by Stephen King - the book, not the first movie).

If last night's premier of Season 6 is any indication, WEEDS is off to a rip-roaring start. Nancy looks dazed and confused, but Shane seems unaffected, even though he does have that crazed look in his eye.

In Shane’s eyes, this death “Thwack” to Pilar was necessary on order to protect his family. He overheard Pilar threatening both he and Silas. Pilar told Nancy that the baby was all they needed to "complete a happy family." She threatened Silas and Shane with a car wreck or a plane crash.

So, in typical Nancy fashion, the family is fleeing from another town. They pick up Silas (Hunter Parrish) who is totally unaware of what Shane did. When they get back to Estaban's house, Nancy tells the housekeeper Lupita (Renee Victor) to get everything packed and grab the baby because they are leaving for good.

While Nancy gathers her things, Shane tries to engage Silas in a game of air hockey. When Silas asks Shane what really happened at the house, calmly Shane replies: “I killed Pilar, with a croquet mallet by the pool. She was gonna kill us so I popped the bitch, right in the melon. THWACK! SPLASH! DEAD!” I have never felt more sorry for Silas in all the series - he has always been the "bad" boy, but now he looks in shock as he finds out what his younger brother is capable of.

Lupita, Shane, Silas, Nancy and the baby have all their stuff packed into Nancy's little Prius and they are stuffed in like sardines. This is when Nancy says, "We're goin' need a bigger boat." (Who didn't see that line coming?) Nancy directs Silas - who is driving because Nancy is too drunk - to drive them to Andy's (Justin Kirk), so they can "borrow" his new minivan to make it easier to flee.

Of course, Andy is having troubles of his own because his fiancé Audra (Alanis Morissette), is still being held hostage by a deranged catholic, anti-abortion freak. Nancy, being the bad ass she is, busts in the room and demands the keys to the van. Needless to say, the kidnapper ends up tied to a chair. Nancy now has the keys to Andy’s van and tells Andy that he can come along if he wants to. Poor Andy, he could have had a good life with Audra, but he failed the test (Audra said she'd never take him back and he didn't fight for her). So, Andy goes on the little road trip with the family.

As I said earlier, WEEDS is off to a rip-roaring start ....

The Morning After Weeds ....

... and it was so nice to see all the Botwins again! The season 5 premiere picked up right where it left on in season 4. Nancy (Mary-Louise Parker) is still in Esteban's (Demián Bichir) office waiting for his reaction to her news that she is pregnant - "And it feels like a boy."

Of course, the ugly part of the show started out quick as well, with Cesar (Enrique Castillo) killing 2 men in the office, right in front of Nancy. This, naturally, freaks her out - hell it would me, too.

Once at home, Nancy tells Andy (Justin Kirk) she is pregnant, and he has a mini breakdown of his own. Doug (Kevin Nealon) is still hanging around and he is his usual stoned self.


As for Silas (Hunter Parrish) and Shane (Alexander Gould) - little Shane has really grown up!! He and Silas are now almost the same size. Silas is making plans with Doug to start a farm somewhere in the National Park - this cannot end well. On the other hand, it looks like Shane is being shipped off to live with kooky aunt Jill (who will be played by Jennifer Jason Leigh) - oh, and he's still selling pot. E-gads, what a tangled web they weave!

Which brings us to poor Celia (Elizabeth Perkins) - she is still being held hostage by her daughter, Quinn (Haley Hudson), and Quinn's boyfriend. The boyfriend has been calling everyone in Celia's phone trying to get ransom money, but he strikes out at every call. Nobody wants Celia back!

This season has started off with a bang and I can't wait to see what interesting and new direction the show takes. Previews show Nancy visiting Guillermo in prison, so it's nice to know he will still be around. As for Cesar - I don't trust him one little bit. He looks like the type of man who could turn on his boss (Esteban) just to tie up loose ends - and he sees Nancy as a loose end.

Reruns will be on all week, so try to catch it if you can ....

"If You Work for a Living, Why Do You Kill Yourself Working?"





Roy Till and the DEA bring Nancy in for questioning. At first Till goes easy on her, but when he finds out his partner has been killed, he begins to threaten Nancy.

Later, after being released by the police, Nancy must explain things to Esteban. Although it is Silas' 18th birthday, Nancy agrees to go meet with Esteban. But first she must have a bath.

It's the bathtub scene that almost made me lose it. Nancy almost has a total breakdown, spilling her deep dark secrets to Andy - while she's naked in the tub. Later, I think Andy comes to the realization that he is in love with Nancy.

Celia travels deep into Mexico to make amends with estranged daughter Quinn. Then we learn why Celia and Quinn could never get along - they're both bitches! Quinn drugs her mother and then plans to sell her back to Dean.

Meanwhile, Silas meets Lisa's ex-husband and when the ex starts taking pictures of a naked Silas, Lisa finally breaks off their relationship. This was one coupling I was glad to see end. Lisa was entirely too old to be with Silas!

Because Lisa and Silas' business arrangement has come to an end, Silas brings the remaining "head cheese sandwiches" back to the house and stores them in the refrigerator. Unfortunately, Shane finds the sandwiches and he and his two girlfriends start selling to friends. I didn't like the direction that Shane's character took this season. Shane was the only sane person in the whole family, but now he's headed down the same self-destructive path.

After Andy accuses Doug of still being in love with his wife, Doug finds a new reason to live. I seriously thought Doug was going to kill himself - I should have known he had something else in mind.

In the very last scene of the season, I was afraid Nancy would get her face "sanded" off, but instead, she makes a shocking revelation to Esteban.

I'm already jonesing for the next season of Weeds, but I know it will be a year down the road. Now what am I supposed to do on Monday nights? Oh yeah, Terminator is back, and Heroes returns next week.

And Sundays have Dexter back in two weeks, along with Californication. Plus there's always Bones on Wednesday nights. Maybe I'll manage ...

Episode 12

A fed up Nancy squeals to the DEA to bust the tunnel while she plays it cool with Esteban. You would think Nancy would learn you can't trust anyone in her line of work. The raid on the maternity shop and the subsequent arrest of Guillermo was shocking, mainly because the action was done in slow motion. Nancy should have anticipated that Esteban's men would get to someone in the DEA's office. The torture of Roy Till's partner was the most horrific thing I've ever seen on this show and was totally unexpected on my part.

Embracing rehab, Celia sets out to make amends with her family. First she makes a complete fool of herself by mucking up her apology to Isabelle, then Dean won't even let her get started on him. Dean's suggestion is for Celia to apologize to Gwen (their oldest daughter who was only in the very first episode of the series).

Andy succumbs to Maria's advances, and later comes clean to Doug. Of course, I knew Doug was being entirely too calm; as soon as Andy and Maria leave the room, Doug calls immigration on Maria.

Shane impresses his girlfriends with his drug scoring abilities. Undeterred by Silas' refusal to sell his little brother pot, Shane waits until Silas turns his back, and then steals a "head cheese sandwich" from the Cheese Shop.

Next week is the season finale and I have no idea how the story will end. Will Esteban turn on Nancy? Will Roy Till turn on Nancy? Will Ceasar torture Nancy? How will Silas celebrate his 18th birthday? Will Shane continue down the wrong path with his two girlfriends? Will Andy keep Maria from being deported? Will Doug ever speak to Andy again? Will Celia survive rehab? Will Isabelle forgive Celia? Too many questions and only 30 minutes to answer them!

"Head Cheese"


Shit, this episode got deep real quick - the whole dimension of the show shifted!




Nancy must deal with the aftermath of Shane's exploits with his two new "friends". At 13 years old, Shane has entered a world Nancy is not ready to accept. She is still suffering from side effects from last week's "Ayuasca trip", that helped her calm her migraine headache. And to top it all off, she has another confrontation with Guillermo over what's coming and going through the tunnel.

Celia's struggles with her rehab partner, Barry, who has managed to sneak some "blow" into the rehab center. After the administration learns Celia used a phoney insurance policy to gain admittance to the facility, she is forced to move to a new rehab center.

Doug and Maria's relationship quickly goes south and they both turn to Andy for help. Doug - being a "typical" man - expects immediate sex from Maria, while Maria has fantasies of Doug "wooing" her.

Meanwhile, Silas's "cheese sandwich" business has grown too big, forcing him to turn to Nancy for financial backing. The "head cheese" sandwich has become a big seller in Ren Mar.


Boo-hoo, there will be no new Weeds for two weeks, and then there are only two more episodes left of Season 4. Where has the time gone?

"Little Boats"

Nancy and Esteban struggle to fit each other into their busy schedules. After a week's worth of postponed dates, they get together in the final scene of tonight's show.



Having discovered Shane's new fantasies - can you say Mommy porno? - and Silas's new girlfriend - a woman old enough to be his mother - Nancy is forced to have a talk with both of her sons.

Meanwhile, Celia grows more desperate to feed her binge. She went from alcoholic to cocaine addict in the blink of an eye - I almost feel sorry for Celia. The gross-out moment of tonight's episode is Celia sneezing blood all over the Maternity Store guard and Isabelle - ewwww!

Silas continues his relationship with Lisa as they begin to expand the offerings at her cheese shop. However, after Nancy's talk with Silas, he and Lisa decide to cool their relationship down. Thank goodness - Lisa robbing the cradle was really starting to bother me!

Andy and Doug search for Doug's new love in Mexico where they are confronted by El Coyote. But the illegals that Andy and Doug have helped come to their rescue; Andy ends up with his portrait in a Mexican bar. Can we say, El Andy?

Meanwhile, Shane - the new school bully of Ren Mar High School - attracts the opposite sex at school. When did Shane become a sex symbol? These 2 teenage girls have Shane's name written across their abdomens.

With the exception of Celia's nasty problem, tonight's episode was classic Weeds!
