Jupiter, Venus and the Moon

If you haven't already been stargazing at Jupiter and Venus the past few weeks, then you'd better get a move on. This phenomenon will only be around until December 5th. If you go outside anytime after sundown and look into the south-western sky, those 2 bright stars you see are Jupiter (bottom) and Venus (top). My daughter and I have been enjoying these planets for almost a week now, but the show is coming to an end.

Of course, with the current crescent Moon, depending on which part of the world you live in, the moon and 2 planets make a smiley face or a frowning face in the sky.

National Geographic Here's the smiley face - seen in the Southern Hemisphere.

CBC News Here's the frowning face - seen in the Northern Hemisphere.

Pinker I just thought this photo was beautiful.

You had better enjoy the view while you can - the Moon, Jupiter and Venus won't be seen in this configuration again until the year 2052.
