The Morning After WEEDS

Weeds - Season 5, Episode 2 - Machetes Up Top

Saddled with Cesar as her "babysitter", Nancy eventually gives him the slip so she can pay a secret visit to Guillermo (who's still in prision). Knowing she must keep this meeting hidden from Esteban, Nancy is truly frightened of the bitter Guillermo. It was hilarious watching Cesar get a pedicure, with the "fishes" eating the dead skin off his feet.

Nancy goes into self destructive mode when she realizes her unborn baby may not save her from a fate worse than death. I wasn't crazy about her downhill slide to bury her problems - I never like seeing a pregnant woman drink or smoke - but I can understand where she is coming from.

Andy ends up taking Shane to visit Nancy’s estranged sister, Jill. Of course, he ends up having sex with her - it seems Jill and Andy are both desparate for attention. Shane spies on his aunt and uncle by taking pictures of them on his cell phone.

Meanwhile, Doug and Silas learn the hard way that growing pot in a national forest on federal land is going to be a lot tougher than what they had earlier thought, especially when they are almost killed by other pot growers.

Poor Celia is now wanting to stay in the rebel camp with Gwen's boyfriend, telling him she has no other place to go. The whole scene was hilarious as Celia set about organizing the rebel's tent. This scene is where the episode title came from - she didn't know if the machetes should go on a top shelf.

It's going to be interesting to see what direction these storylines take. Not only does Nancy have to worry about Esteban killing her, now she has Guillermo threatening her.

The Morning After "Weeds"

Season 4 Finale

"If You Work for a Living, Why Do You Kill Yourself Working?"

Roy Till and the DEA bring Nancy in for questioning. At first Till goes easy on her, but when he finds out his partner has been killed, he begins to threaten Nancy.

Later, after being released by the police, Nancy must explain things to Esteban. Although it is Silas' 18th birthday, Nancy agrees to go meet with Esteban. But first she must have a bath.

It's the bathtub scene that almost made me lose it. Nancy almost has a total breakdown, spilling her deep dark secrets to Andy - while she's naked in the tub. Later, I think Andy comes to the realization that he is in love with Nancy.

Celia travels deep into Mexico to make amends with estranged daughter Quinn. Then we learn why Celia and Quinn could never get along - they're both bitches! Quinn drugs her mother and then plans to sell her back to Dean.

Meanwhile, Silas meets Lisa's ex-husband and when the ex starts taking pictures of a naked Silas, Lisa finally breaks off their relationship. This was one coupling I was glad to see end. Lisa was entirely too old to be with Silas!

Because Lisa and Silas' business arrangement has come to an end, Silas brings the remaining "head cheese sandwiches" back to the house and stores them in the refrigerator. Unfortunately, Shane finds the sandwiches and he and his two girlfriends start selling to friends. I didn't like the direction that Shane's character took this season. Shane was the only sane person in the whole family, but now he's headed down the same self-destructive path.

After Andy accuses Doug of still being in love with his wife, Doug finds a new reason to live. I seriously thought Doug was going to kill himself - I should have known he had something else in mind.

In the very last scene of the season, I was afraid Nancy would get her face "sanded" off, but instead, she makes a shocking revelation to Esteban.

I'm already jonesing for the next season of Weeds, but I know it will be a year down the road. Now what am I supposed to do on Monday nights? Oh yeah, Terminator is back, and Heroes returns next week.

And Sundays have Dexter back in two weeks, along with Californication. Plus there's always Bones on Wednesday nights. Maybe I'll manage ...

The Morning After "Weeds"

"Till We Meet Again"
Episode 12

A fed up Nancy squeals to the DEA to bust the tunnel while she plays it cool with Esteban. You would think Nancy would learn you can't trust anyone in her line of work. The raid on the maternity shop and the subsequent arrest of Guillermo was shocking, mainly because the action was done in slow motion. Nancy should have anticipated that Esteban's men would get to someone in the DEA's office. The torture of Roy Till's partner was the most horrific thing I've ever seen on this show and was totally unexpected on my part.

Embracing rehab, Celia sets out to make amends with her family. First she makes a complete fool of herself by mucking up her apology to Isabelle, then Dean won't even let her get started on him. Dean's suggestion is for Celia to apologize to Gwen (their oldest daughter who was only in the very first episode of the series).

Andy succumbs to Maria's advances, and later comes clean to Doug. Of course, I knew Doug was being entirely too calm; as soon as Andy and Maria leave the room, Doug calls immigration on Maria.

Shane impresses his girlfriends with his drug scoring abilities. Undeterred by Silas' refusal to sell his little brother pot, Shane waits until Silas turns his back, and then steals a "head cheese sandwich" from the Cheese Shop.

Next week is the season finale and I have no idea how the story will end. Will Esteban turn on Nancy? Will Roy Till turn on Nancy? Will Ceasar torture Nancy? How will Silas celebrate his 18th birthday? Will Shane continue down the wrong path with his two girlfriends? Will Andy keep Maria from being deported? Will Doug ever speak to Andy again? Will Celia survive rehab? Will Isabelle forgive Celia? Too many questions and only 30 minutes to answer them!

The Morning After "Weeds"

Not only is this the morning after "Weeds", it is also my 100th post on Rightmyer Rants. I've also reached 100 posts on Bobbi's Book Nook, where I'm having a book give-away - so check it out!

"Little Boats"

Nancy and Esteban struggle to fit each other into their busy schedules. After a week's worth of postponed dates, they get together in the final scene of tonight's show.

Having discovered Shane's new fantasies - can you say Mommy porno? - and Silas's new girlfriend - a woman old enough to be his mother - Nancy is forced to have a talk with both of her sons.

Meanwhile, Celia grows more desperate to feed her binge. She went from alcoholic to cocaine addict in the blink of an eye - I almost feel sorry for Celia. The gross-out moment of tonight's episode is Celia sneezing blood all over the Maternity Store guard and Isabelle - ewwww!

Silas continues his relationship with Lisa as they begin to expand the offerings at her cheese shop. However, after Nancy's talk with Silas, he and Lisa decide to cool their relationship down. Thank goodness - Lisa robbing the cradle was really starting to bother me!

Andy and Doug search for Doug's new love in Mexico where they are confronted by El Coyote. But the illegals that Andy and Doug have helped come to their rescue; Andy ends up with his portrait in a Mexican bar. Can we say, El Andy?

Meanwhile, Shane - the new school bully of Ren Mar High School - attracts the opposite sex at school. When did Shane become a sex symbol? These 2 teenage girls have Shane's name written across their abdomens.

With the exception of Celia's nasty problem, tonight's episode was classic Weeds!

The Morning After "Weeds"

"I Am the Table"

Nancy wakes to a house full of contractors hired by Shane - and an inpromtu meeting with Esteban. Guirellmo is also at the meeting where he gets "dressed down" for threatening Nancy's life.

Esteban takes Nancy out to lunch, but their spontaneous date ends in near violence when someone takes a shot at Esteban. It is during his explanation of who was shooting at him that we get the title of this episode - I am the table. After taking Nancy to see his rare lion - and watching it kill and eat a goat - the heat between Nancy and Esteban accelerates into an NC-17 romp in the sack! I'm not sure who had more claw marks on their back!

Andy and Doug successfully smuggle their first customers across the border. Andy is the guide and Doug is the border militia that allows it to happen. Lee Majors again has a cameo.

The attraction between Silas and Lisa revives into overdrive - doesn't she realize he's still a minor? In the process of tasting Lisa's inferior weed, Silas reveals he is a pot grower - soon to be dealer. Because her cheese shop has such obvious strong odors, she offers to let Silas do business in the back of her store.

Celia develops an addiction to her Mexican pills and is barely able to function, forcing Isabelle to walk to school on her first day. After she lets the 3rd customer steal clothes from the maternity shop, the guard in the back room snaps her back into gear with a snort that leaves her buzzing. From alcoholic to drug abuser in just a few weeks time - Celia is headed for a huge fall.

And Shane, fearing another school with another set of rules and another group of kids who pick on him, decides to make a strong first impression during his first day at a new school.

Another great episode. It never ceases to amaze me how they can fit so much into a 25 minute episode.
