Juveniles and Vandalism

I just wanted to relate a TRUE story to all parents of teenagers.

Tuesday night in Harrodsburg, 2 juveniles stole a tractor and proceeded to have a "joy ride" through the county. These juveniles managed to completely destroy over 200 mailboxes (which were finally found in a section of the river) and did major damage to several vehicles.

My hubby's truck was one of those vehicles with major damage, as were two other vehicles in our neighborhood. His tailgate is smashed and we can't get it open; the passenger side taillights are gone. Our neighbors truck was T-boned on the driver's side and the windows were smashed out.

The Sheriff infomed us today that the juveniles have been arrested and they will have to pay restitutions, after they go to court. The mailbox damage alone is a federal offense. Some of the vehicle damage is classified as a misdemeanor. Unfortunately, the damage to our truck and our neighbors is severe enough to be a felony.

My question is, how come these kids parents didn't know what their children were up to? Doesn't matter now, because the parents will be held responsible.

My advice, talk to your teenagers about vandalism and the consquences that come with it.
