I'm sure many of you are becoming aware of a recent law that will go into effect February 10, 2009. H.R. 4040 is titled: Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 and it mandates all toys, clothing, books, etc. made or sold to children under the age of 12 be tested for lead. This includes all homemade/handmade gifts, yard sales and consignment shops, not to mention clothing banks. I'm not going to go into all the details because several others can explain it much better than I: World Net Daily and H.R. 4040.
Here are the links to see how your Congressmen and Senators voted on this important issue:
House of Representatives Vote on H.R. 4040
Senate Vote on H.R. 4040
For the record, Kentucky's Senators and Representatives all voted YEA on this vote:
Sen. Jim Bunning (R)
Sen. Mitch McConnell (R) Minority Leader
Rep. Edward Whitfield (R) District 1
Rep. Ron Lewis (R) District 2
Rep. John Yarmuth (D) District 3
Rep. Geoff Davis (R) District 4
Rep. Harold Rogers (R) District 5
Rep. Ben Chandler (D) District 6
I have already sent letters AND emails to Senators and Representatives, as well as to the President, Vice-President, President-Elect and Vice-President-Elect. I urge each of you to do the same.
